Chuck in Danger

24 03 2010

Well it seems that again this season Chuck is in danger of being cancelled. The show currently in it’s third season has seen a drop in ratings the past few weeks. This past weeks episode, Chuck vs the Final Exam only drew in 5.43 million viewers.

So it’s time for fans of the show to go out and recruit viewers, especially if they have a Nielsen box. Also you can rewatch the show on hulu. It doesn’t count as much as watching it live, but it can still help. Also remember to keep eating at Subway, because they are a sponser of the show, and telling them how much you love the show.

Last year fans were able to help save the show. We just need to band together to do it again. So recruit your friends and tell them how great the show is. They won’t be disappointed by the awesomeness of Chuck.

Tvbythenumbers.com posted an article on the ratings of Chuck and the chances of renewal. NBC doesn’t have the greatest ratings for a lot of shows and after a few bad decisions (Jay Leno at 10:00 everynight), Chuck may be able to get a renewal since a lot of their shows aren’t doing that well. Right now we will just have to wait and see if it gets renewed. In the meantime all I can reccomend is that every watches this great show.

Captain America Casting Rumors

24 02 2010

Who will wield the shield in Captain America film? The buzz on the internet today, is that the Role of Captain America in the upcoming Marvel film has been narrowed down to 5 or 6 choices. The actors that are up for the role are: Michael Cassidy (The O.C. & Smallville), Mike Vogel (Cloverfield), Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights), Chase Crawford (Gossip Girl), John Krasinski (The Office), and Patrick Flueger (The 4400).

I think some of these actors are interesting choices. A few articles online seem to focus on Krasinski being a frontrunner for the role. He is definitely not who I pictured in the role, and I don’t think he’d be the right choice for it. I can’t really see him playing Steve Rogers, and I don’t know how good he would be in an action film. Of the seven mentioned I think I would either like to see Mike Vogel or Patrick Flueger in the role. Neither one of them are big names, and I always liked the idea of an unknown actor being cast in the role, and this may be as close as it gets. A few weeks back I posted an article that Ryan McPartlin from Chuck auditioned for the role. I still think he would be a good choice for the part. Although I’m still not sure any of the actors really seem to fit the part. Before becoming Captain America, Steve Rogers was a weakling before taking the super soldier serum and becoming Captain America. Also being mentioned for the role is Garrett Hedlund from the upcoming film Tron Legacy, however it seems that they are some contract problems, and he has not reached a deal to test for the role.

Earlier this month Joe Johnston stated that they were weeks away from a casting decision. That was weeks ago, and there still haven’t been any casting announcements. Casting for the film needs to be completed soon, especially with filming to commence in June. It will be interesting to see will end up playing the role of Captain America.

NYC Seeing Extinction

23 02 2010

This past weekend I went with a few friends to New York City to see the play Extinction, starring James Roday and Michael Weston. The Off-Broadway play, was at the Cherry Lane Theater, and was very good. Both Roday and Weston did an excellent job. The play was billed as a dark comedy and the first half of the play was funny. The second half of the play was much darker and very intense. I really liked it, and would definitely recommend it to others.

Captain America

7 02 2010

News is finally starting to surface about the upcoming Captain America film from Marvel Studios. The film directed by Joe Johnston is set to. Evinced filming in June, so some of the cast should start to be announced soon.

What we do know about the actor who will be chosen to play Steve Rogers, is that he will be American and he will most likely be between the ages of 23 and 32. One of the actors who auditioned for the role was Ryan McPartlin from Chuck. The actor plays Chuck’s brother in law on the show, Captain Awesome.

Other information released about the film is that the villain is going to be the Red Skull. Also the film is scheduled to begin filming in June in London. The film will primarily be shot in the UK, since it is based during WW2. Also The Invaders will be featured in the film. The Invaders were the group that Captain America fought with during the war. Members of the group included, Namor, Toro, The Human Torch, and Bucky.

I’m excited that some news is finally being released about the film. I can’t wait for some of the cast to be announced. I also like that McPartlin auditioned for the role. He is one of my favorites on Chuck, and one of the breakout stars of the show. Also I think he would be a good choice for the role. Although I do wond

er how this would interfere with the filming of next season of Chuck (as long as it get’s renewed next season) Although Johnston has said that they wanted to cast an unknown in the lead role, McPartlin is a familiar face because of Chuck. Especially with his expanded role on the show this season.

Hopefully more information will be released this month, especially since casting has to be completed by March 1st.

9:10 After seeing clips from all of Betty’s roles and her work with animals, Betty has 2 passions, show business and animals. She may have more, but that’s none of our business. Torchwood – An American Version?

20 01 2010

I read an interesting article today on ign.com about Fox developing a US version of Torchwood, the popular UK sci-fi show, that is a spin-off of Doctor Who. When I first read the article I was a bit upset, the original version of Torchwood is an excellent show, and I hate when the American production companies try to take shows from the UK and Americanize them. I for one can stand The U.S. Version of the Office, and in my opinion the Original will always be better, but I digress.

The one thing that the show may have going for it, is that Russell T. Davies (Creator of the original Torchwood) is going to be writing the pilot script for the new version of the show. Another interesting thing about this new show, is that John Barrowman, the star of Torchwood (Captain Jack Harkness) may star in the new show.

Now the major question that I have, is what does this mean for Series 4 of Torchwood, and further seasons of the show. The show has quite the following, not only in the UK, but also in the US. Also would they be starting the show from the beginning, or be in a different continuity. If this were the continued adventures of Captain Jack, from the original series, then I think that it definitely has possibility, but it they are starting the whole thing from the beginning, then I’m really not going to be interested, especially knowing the history of the show. Also will the US version, have an connection to Doctor Who, and could they even do that, now that Davies

is no longer the Executive Producer of the show. It will be interesting to see further developments of the story. I can’t wait to find out more about the pilot.

The Golden Globes

17 01 2010

10:59 Ricky Gervais ends the night. If he could have one wish it would be for peace on earth, no wait it’s for everyone to watch The Ricky Gervais show on HBO. A nice way to end the night, with one final plug.

10:55 Julia Roberts is presenting the final award of the evening, Best Picture Drama. The winner is Avatar.

10:46 Last years double winner Kate Winslet is presenting the award for Best Actor Drama. The winner is Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart. He received a standing ovation from the audience and tells them you’re ruining my under appreciated status.

10:39 Sally Hawkins is presenting the award for Best Actor Musical or Comedy. The winner is Robert Downey Jr. for Sherlock Holmes. Robert seemed a lot like Tony Stark up there, a bit cocky but rightfully so. I liked his speech, and how he didn’t thank anyone, whilst thanking everyone.

10:35 Ricky Gervais is introducing Micky Rourke. He’s not saying anything bad about him, because he is so much bigger then Ricky. Micky is presenting the award for Best Actress Drama. The winner is Sandra Bullock for The Blindside.

10:33 Arnold Schwarzenegger is onstage for the final nominated film, Avatar. Arnold made a joke about NBC and their lack of profits.

10:26 Reese Witherspoon is presenting the award for Best Picture Musical or Comedy. The Golden Globe goes to The Hangover. I love that the song that’s being played is the one that Ed Helms sang in the film about Doug. Too funny.

10:25 The cast of The Hangover, Justin Bartha, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Mike Tyson showing scenes from their nominated film, The Hangover.

10:18 Kiefer Sutherland and Olivia Wilde are presenting the award for Best TV Series Comedy or Musical. And the winner is Glee (My new favorite TV show this year, I’m addicted to it)

10:15 Mel Gibson is presenting the award for Best Director. The winner is James Cameron for Avatar. He promises the speech will be short, because he “has to pee something fierce”. Apparently he though Kathryn Bigelow was going to win for The Hurt Locker. He spoke in the Na’vi language. That’s pretty awesome.

10:14 I love Ricky Gervais drinking his beer on stage. Too funny, also loved how he called Mel Gibson a drunk.

10:12 Jodie Foster is onstage to show the next nominated film The Hurt Locker.

10:03 They showed a great reel of clips from his movies. It really showcased all of the amazing work that he has done. What an excellant speech, probably the best of the night (so far.)

9:56 Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro are onstage to present the Cecil B. Demille award to Martin Scorsese. Apparently there’s internet footage of Marty getting it on with a film canister. Now that’s a sex-tape I would want to see.

9:49 I love that Ricky Gervais had a Pint of Beer on stage. He’s introducing the next presenter who was Catwoman was very clean. He also showed us how a cat cleans itself. Ricky is hilarious. The very clean Halle Berry is presenting the award for Best Supporting Actor Motion Picture the winner is  Cristoph Waltz for Inglorious Basterds. Not a big surprise there, he was amazing in that film. I really liked his speech. It wasn’t boring and he told a nice story of how he decided to be in the film.

9:46 Chace Crawford and Kristen Bell are presenting the award for Best Supporting Actress TV. The winner is Chloe Sevigny for Big Love.

9:45 Taylor Lautner showing the next nominated film (500) Days of Summer. (This was one of my favorite films of the year. I would love to see it win.)

9:37 Zachary Levi and Amy Poehler are presenting the award for Best TV Series Drama. They were pretty funny together up there. The winner is Mad Men.

9:33 Sophia Loren is presenting the award for Best Foreign Language Film. The winner is The White Ribbon from Germany.

9:32 Samuel L. Jackson is onstage to introduce the next nominated film. He’s says it’s the family film of the year Inglorious Basterds. He then introduces the next presenter….Sophia Loren

9:27 Another plug for Haiti, this time by Maggie Gyllenhaal

9:26 Jennifer Garner and Ashton Kutcher presenting the nominees for Best Actor TV Series Musical or Comedy. The winner is Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock who is not in attendance tonight. Not a big surprise there, he always seems to win…every year.

9:25 Everyone is mentioning George Clooney and his benefit for Haiti tonight.

9:22 Ricky tells us the next category is a bit of a downer it’s for Writing. “It’s not the words you say, it’s how good you look when you say them.” He introduces the presenters as Rachel from Friends and that guy from 300. Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler are presenting the award for Best Screenplay. The winners are surprisingly Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner for Up In The Air. I really thought that Quentin Tarentino was going to win this one, and Jason even commits that he thought the same thing.

9:20 Cameron Diaz  is presenting the film where Meryl Streep does sleep with Alec Baldwin, in, It’s Complicated.

9:13 Zoe and Sam are also presenting the award for Best Actress Mini-Series or TV Movie. And the winner is Drew Barrymore for Grey Gardens.

8:45 Cher and Christina Aguilera are announcing the award for Best Original Song, and the winner is The Weary Kind from Crazy Heart.

8:33 Jane Krakowski and Neil Patrick Harris are introducing the award for Best Actor TV Series-Drama. The Winner is Michael C. Hall for Dexter. Hall gave a very nice speech. He looks good, and I hope that he has a speedy recovery.

8:31 Felicity Huffman completely messes up her introduction of Phillip Burke

8:30 Ricky is back, this time plugging his film The Invention of Lying. “Why, oh, why wasn’t The Invention of Lying nominated? I don’t know. Maybe the DVD will win one…(pulls out a copy of the dvd)…out Tuesday at Wal-Mart.” He then says that the Golden Globes cannot be bought, officially, however if you were to do it, Phillip Burke would be the man to see. Ricky then introduces Felicity Huffman who will be introducing Phillip Burke. He comments thats it’s a bit redundant.

8:28 Kate Hudson is onstage to show the first of the nights nominated films, Nine.

8:20 Paul McCartney, aka that guy from Rock Band is presenting the next award, Best Animated Feature. He says that the films are “not just for children, but for adults that take drugs.” (He also mentioned the new Yellow Submarine film, which should be awesome. The winner is Up.

8:16 The next presenters are two of my favorite television actors, Jim Parson and Lauren Graham. They are presenting the award for Best Supporting Actor TV. The winner is John Lithgow for Dexter. He was amazing this season on the show, and it was well deserved, the only other person I really liked was Michael Emerson from Lost. He would have a been a good choice.

8:09 Matthew Fox and Sofia Vergara are the next presenters. They are presenting the award for Best Actress TV Series-Musical or Comedy. The winner is Toni Collette for The United States of Tara. I was a bit surprised by this, I really thought that Tina Fey was going to win it.

8:04 The first presenter of the night is Nicole Kidman. She starts off with the first Charity plug for Haiti (there will probably be quite a few of these tonight) She is presenting the award for Best Supporting Actress Motion Picture and the winner is Mo’Nique for Precious

8:02 Loving all of the Jabs at NBC. It’s even funnier that the Globes air on NBC. Go team Coco!!

8:00 The Globes are starting. Looking forward to Ricky Gervais hosting.

SDCC 2010

7 11 2009

Well it looks like I will be attending San Diego Comic-Con next year. I was able to get a four day pass right before they sold out today, so I’m super excited that I’ll be attending for my 3rd year in a row. Last year I had an amazing time at the convention, so I can’t wait for next years con.

FlashForward

25 09 2009

Tonight was the premiere of the new show FlashForward, starring Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, and Sonya Walger (Penny from Lost).  The show centers on a global event that causes everyone in the world to blackout for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. During this time everyone sees their future, what they will be doing 6 months in the future. After the event occurs, the world is left in chaos, people are left wondering what they saw, while others are injured or dead, due to accidents occurring during the blackout.

At first the only blackout the audience sees is that of FBI agent, Mark Benford (Fiennes) but as the show progresses we see the futures of the some of the other characters. By the end of the episode, many of the characters are questioning what they saw, and if they can change their future. There is definitely a lot of mystery to the show, and I personally can’t wait for some questions to be answered, especially after how the pilot ended. I look forward to watching this show the rest of the season.
